Deepika Padukone Is Obsessed With Big, Poofy Gowns And We Have A Theory To Explain It

Deepika Padukone is relatable in so many ways. From her goofy public persona to eating habits, the actress does not shy away from being her truest self. She also seems to be someone who loves her personal space. So much so, that you wouldn’t catch her dead in a slim gown on the red carpet. Deepika is obsessed with her big, poofy gowns and we kinda have a theory as to why that might be.

Some might call it her signature style, that’s how much Deepika wears ’em flared gowns. Her international appearances are drenched in tulle ruffles and billowy skirts flowing from a fitted bust. She pulls off these elaborate, albeit tricky, silhouettes quite well. Hey, if we had long legs that go for miles, we’d wear gowns that can double up as tents too.

The best part about her penchant for big gowns is that she does not hold back. From bursts of neon to cotton candy layers, these dresses might drown someone else. On Deepika, they look totes adorable!

Going back to the theory, we might have some idea about why Deepika and Shaleena are hand-picking these dresses. Apart from the fact that she looks fabulous in them, the style of a slim bust paired with blown-up skirts is a great way to show off her ridiculous toned shoulders, playing up her decolletage and slim hands. A big poofy gown is also bound to stand out in a crowd. They literally have to clear out space for Deepika to strike her poses for the shutterbugs. She can see why she likes them as well, they are girly but in an elegant way. Grown-up girls love their princess-y frocks too!

Just take a look at Deepika dominating that stage in her big gown. She was joined by ace director Vishal Bhardwaj to present the iconic Deepti Naval with the Excellence In Cinema award. You can honestly live under that gown, although we think the rent for a Giambattista Valli number will be way out of our league!
