Deepika Padukone And Laxmi Agarwal Wore Gorgeous Sabyasachi Sarees And Looked Absolutely Lovely. We’re Not Crying, You Are

It must be both exciting and terrifying for an actor to share a stage with the person they just played on screen. It is a huge responsibility on the part of an artist to do justice to a real person on film. Equally overwhelming when you have them next to you watching the film, which is exactly the fate the befell on Deepika Padukone last night. The actress was joined by director Meghna Gulzar and acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, who also inspired the film Chhapaak, for a special media screening. While we wait and see what the initial reviews are like, one detail from the night made our hearts grow two sizes and that was how stunning both the ladies looked!

Deepika enlisted her stylist, and friend, Shaleena Nathani to create the looks for both her and Laxmi last night and she chose stunning Sabyasachi sarees for the two of them. While Deepika wore a sequinned inky-blue drape…

….Laxmi was adorned in a rani-pink and gold Benarasi saree and heritage jewellery from the house of Sabya as well:

How lovely! Deepika’s penchant for reaching out for Sabya’s creations for occasions that are the closest to her heart is endearing. This is a designer-muse relationship that we truly appreciate, and also envy. That’s why it makes sense that she wanted Laxmi to be in a Sabya saree as well, a move of great styling and sisterhood. As for the glam deets themselves, we loved Deepika’s “wet hair” side-parted lob. It is a contrasting hair-look for a desi drape, Mod and sleek, thus giving the cocktail saree a much-needed upgrade. The saree also drew many comparisons with Manish Malhotra’s sequinned sarees (in literally every colour imaginable) that are a big trend RN. We personally love the Sabya look for the sophistication of its sequins and the fact that it looks like the night sky!

Laxmi took to her Instagram to share her jubilance over the pretty Benarasi she was about to wear. The glam team left her tresses to fall naturally and we are glad because that hair is beautiful and needs no teasing!

Chhapaak is indeed turning out interesting perspectives revolving around a film made on a real acid attack. Deepika was part of a social experiment to see how survivors are perceived in a public place and it is an interesting watch. Take a look!
