Chumbak Launches A Clothing Line And It’s Actually Wearable

Chumbak – the kitschy lifestyle brand we all know and love – has finally launched a flagship store in Mumbai and I couldn’t be more thrilled. The Kalaghoda outlet is a riot of prints, fabrics and colours on just about every imaginable item – mugs, stationery, crockery, flower vases, table runners, cushion covers, wallets, rugs, wall art, laptop sleeves, bags…there’s so much to see, the mind actually boggles!

Among the new home décor launches are cute and colourful tea lights and lamps, table runners, really cool glass jars that come with a tap, and crockery. There’s also a cool furniture section that you might want to check out if statement pieces are your thing.

However, it’s the launch of their first ever clothing line that really interested me. Co-founder Shubhra Chadda mentioned that her primary reason for broadening the brand’s offering into clothing was to give her customers one more way in which to experience the over-the-top aesthetic of the brand. Themes like family, travel, animals and florals run through the clothing line, which includes everything from dresses and skirts to quirky shirts, jackets, scarves and leggings. They can work as cool separates on a casual day at work or to college, but be warned that the brightly printed pieces will definitely bring you attention.

However, there are a few not-so-loud pieces that I personally liked, which would work as everyday wear items as well. One of my favourite pieces is a pizza print sweatshirt that I found utterly adorable. They also have a selection of footwear that I wasn’t particularly impressed by.
