Mumbai’s Favourite Store Bombay Electric Is Moving To London

Come Friday and fashion-forward folks in Mumbai will no longer associate Bombay Electric in Colaba as THE address for all things eclectic. An Instagram re-post by the brand verified that this boutique concept store — launched in 2005 — will officially shut shop on April 29. The brand is making a move to London.

Known as a store that embraced all things kitschy and quirky, Bombay Electric was one of the city’s first to give the elite an entirely new experience in fashion. It’s not news that for this brand, eclectic design has always been the star, whether it is an established or upcoming designer. Through various collaborations, sartorial geniuses like Manish Arora and Rajesh Pratap Singh, Little Shilpa, and Ka:Sha, among many others, have showcased their works here. The label has even opted to display works of brands like Comme des Garcons, United Nude, and Surface 2 Air and more, that are known for their design-oriented creations. Last October, the store also hosted an exclusive pop-up hosting at Selfridges, London, where they showcased collections by Indian designers like Miu

Confirming the news, the store’s creative director Priya Kishore said to Elle India, “We have so beautifully evolved over the years and we look forward to channeling the brand’s energy in a new and exciting form in London.”
