Boi’s Budget Buys: The Summer-Friendly Look

Boi’s Budget Buys: The Summer-Friendly Look

One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!

Have you noticed how schizophrenic the weather has been lately? Burning hot during the day and nippy in the evenings. What is THAT about? I know, how very British of us to be discussing the weather, right? But anyway, summer is pretty much here, no matter how hard we try to hold on to these nippy evenings. And by the looks of it, it’s gonna be a long, difficult summer. So I’m stocking up for the season early.

To avoid sweat patches and general discomfort during these months (plenty of those, eh?), light, breezy fabrics are your best bet. Chiffons, linen, and organic cotton make for comfortable, stylish clothes, and keep you cool and chill on those painfully warm days. I know the rule of thumb usually is to downsize your clothes during these months, but I don’t subscribe to this philosophy. Cover up as much as you like, you’ll be protecting your skin from the sun too.

So this week’s look is about summer comfort. A flowy, handwoven khadi skirt in this delicious salmon/onion pinkish hue, teamed with a laser-cut, cold-shoulder ruffled top, a pair of ikat print brogues, an adorable cat-like sling purse, and a layered gold necklace that stands out against the black.

What I personally love about this look (that, yes, I have put together *smirk*) is that while each separate is a standout piece, they all come together so beautifully, don’t you think? All the while saving you from the mad heat that the summer will bring. Also, there’s an underlying ethnicy-desi vibe that I’m totally digging. Wear this outfit with a bindi and a nosering, and you’ll be channeling the perfect Indian hippie vibe.

So I’m off to cool off this weekend in this easy-breezy outfit. Send me pictures of your summer #OOTDs too — after all, isn’t every weekend but a photo-op?
