Anushka Sharma And Sonali Bendre Absolutely Slayed The Red Carpet With These Fabulous Looks
The 2019 leg of Vogue Women Of The Year Awards went down with its usual flare over the weekend. We were glad to see a change in the red carpet style from Bollywood’s finest. The year has belonged to big gowns and thigh-high slits and frankly had started to get a bit boring. Butt given that we had women from many different fields walking the carpet this time, the fashion spoke for it. From Dutee Chand’s sequinned pantsuit to Neera Nundy’s gorgeous stained purple shades up for grabs, it was all quite exciting.
Having said that, there were two women on the carpet who made left us in awe with their style statements the most. We had Anushka Sharma, who picked up the title Style Icon of the Year, showed up head-to-toe in Gucci, a checked pantsuit and killer heeled booties. And Sonali Bendre, who gave us the chicest version of futuristic metallics on the carpet in her Mary Katrantzou asymmetrical dress.

But wait, that’ not all. There is another reason why we loved these ladies making these sartorial choices for the evening. While Anushka Sharma gave the ‘baddest’ accessory of the year in the form of a gold Spartan-style ear cuff…
….Sonali showed us how to literally glisten head to toe in a silver shimmery dress, without having to blame it on Christmas:
Sonali’s choice of label also boasts the distinction of being associated with a cause close to her heart. Designer Mary Katrantzou is known for using her platform to raise awareness about cancer, her long-standing association with ELPIDA being a success story that everyone needs to catch up on!

It is always a delight to discover small details like this in a sea of curated looks on celebs. Major props to the stylists behind the looks, we shall be talking about Anushka’s war cry in the Grecian cuff for days. FYI, the gold-toned accessory is inspired by Eduardo Costa’s Fashion Fiction #1, a series where the artist produced 24-carat gold jewellery sculpted after body parts. We wonder if there’s a belly button piercing available as well cuz’ that’s so us!
