Shahid Kapoor Says He Can’t Do Long Distance Relationships And Revealed That Kiara Advani Is Single
The thing about relationships is that they end up moulding you into a person you never thought you could be. When you’re in a fulfilling relationship, it makes you flourish by bringing out the best in you. And when it comes all crashing down, we find ourselves reacting in ways we never thought we would. It’s not love that’s at fault, it’s us. Our fragile egos are easily damaged and often results in sabotaging behaviours. If you’ve seen the trailer of Shahid Kapoor and Disha Patani starrer Kabir Singh, that’s literally the one thing you know immediately from it.
On long distance relationships
Shahid Kapoor recently opened up about his thoughts on romantic relationships, having had his share before he found his life companion in Mira Rajput. During a recent press conference, when he was asked about long distance relationships, he said he wasn’t pro it. He expressed saying, “I could never do long distance relationships. I mean, what’s the point? I have always felt like… if I am in love with someone, I would want to share as much time as I can with her…but there are people who have done it.”
While he may not have it figured out and doesn’t know how people do it, he has still seen them working it out. “I have friends who managed to get through it, they have gotten married and they are really happy, so there are difficult phases one needs to get through in long distance relationships, and I was really bad with it.” We say if you really really want to work it out, you can! Geographical distance shouldn’t hamper your emotional intimacy, and of course, there’s phone sex and sex toys!
On dealing with breakups
Shahid Kapoor who was in a relationship with Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra earlier, opened up about how he dealt with breakups. He told PTI, “I’ve had my very intense, self-destructive, heartbreak, angsty moments, where I’ve not been in control.” And even though it’s completely natural to feel emotional pain, he advises people to not delve in it for long. “The worst thing to do is to delve in self-pity because it keeps you in a place way longer than you need to be. The first thing I do is to try and run away from it. I don’t like to indulge in self-pity, it’s very dangerous,” explains Kapoor and we completely agree with him.
The 38-year-old actor definitely has wisdom on his side, and it seems like he has learnt a lot from his previous relationships. “You have to channelise all kinds of negative emotions and turn them into positive, otherwise they can take you down, heartbreak being one of them. You’ve to learn to channelise these energies, if you can’t, you become Kabir Singh!”
Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, his co-star in the movie Kabir Singh, recently launched a song from the movie and during this press conference, Shahid cheekily revealed that Kiara Advani is single. And then sneakily also added in that people should ask her about her college romance.
Shahid Kapoor has been married to Mira Rajput Kapoor since 2015 and the couple have two children. Their marriage makes us believe in love and soulmates and that despite breakups being painful, you will eventually find your happily ever after! Such good vibes.
On the work front, Shahid Kapoor will be next seen in Kabir Singh, in which is playing the role of a self-sabotaging, heart-broken lover. The intense, romantic drama is all set to release on 21st June, 2019.
