Think Winter Fashion Is Boring? Here’s Sonam Kapoor Sailing Through The Season In Style With One Chic Look After Another
Winter fashion is deemed relatively trickier and dull to it’s seasonal counterparts. While the winter clothes mostly feature the boring colour palette like greys, blacks and blues, the sunny season collection is vibrant and perky. Plus, you cannot ignore the pro-level layering skills you need to pair multiple winter staples which by no means is easy to style and the outfit ends up looking like the winter bloating really got to you. That’s when we turn to Bollywood celebrities for some on-trend, winter fashion pairings. However, we don’t see many celebrities stepping in wool jackets, knee-length coats and pullovers, and you can blame the unvarying humid weather of Mumbai for the lack of winter fashion inspiration.
It’s only when they jet off to wintery holiday destination that we get a healthy dose of winter style from the Bollywood celebrities. While almost every celebrity is basking in the sun on a beach in Maldives, Sonam Kapoor is picking flowers and posing in the streets of London (yes, it’s only us who are still spending days in self-isolation). We had to stop cribbing about not vacationing with bae like her (also for not having a bae) to gawk at her chic winter fashion looks. She dropped two looks acing the winter street style like the fashionista she is and we are impressed yet again.
It’s the art of layering and winter aesthetics that she nails every time and these two looks are no different. They actually made us look back on the other winter styles she had served that practically proved winter fashion can be as glamourous and chic as your summer ensembles. Sonam always thinks beyond the quintessential styles and it shows. Why stick to pants and pullovers when you can sport a skirt and a tee (yes, we are still talking about winter fashion) for a winter-worthy look, right? I don’t know if it’s the cute pink tee, silver pleated skirt or red boots that we could never thought of adding to our winter wardrobe BTW, that’s doing for us, but this look is so refreshing and chic that it’s making me feel I’ve been doing it wrong all my life. She threw on a cool brown jacket over it and, ooh, that beret!

For the second look, Sonam adopted a winter uniform of a jacket and pants in classic Glen plaid suit which is a warmer fabric and perfect for the cold weather. But that’s not it. Bifurcating the look, you’d see she has played up the suit with layers that made a convincing case for how winter layering should be done. She wore a white tee underneath and layered it with a black shirt to keep up with the neutral tones of the co-ords. She paired it with cool combat boots, a winter beanie and a chunky gold necklace that we almost didn’t notice.
