Shama Sikander Recreates Deepika Padukone’s Iconic ‘Mastani’ Look And It’s Just *Chef’s Kiss*

I am guilty of binge-watching random makeup tutorials on YouTube for fun. I don’t particularly watch them to hone my art or skills and neither do I try the looks myself. I simply spend hours in front of my laptop screen (there may or may not be some popcorn involved in this R&R sesh) and stare at these beauty bloggers who take me through the extensive process of creating or imitating a celebrity makeup look. It’s more calming than those satisfying slime videos on Instagram, TBH.

Anyway, that’s how I know that about five years ago, every blogger with a beauty channel was creating Deepika Padukone’s look from Bajirao Mastani’s song Deewani Mastani. And they did a pretty good job. Just when we thought it was over for the iconic look, Shama Sikander resurrected the minimal, Mughal era-inspired natural-looking makeup once again. And, we can’t stop thinking about it.

On her Instagram account, she often posts chic street style looks and totally steal-worthy style that you can copy. Her makeup is also very fresh and millennial with defined eyes and nude lips being her go-to. However, for an event she donned the exquisite Mastani get up and looked like the character from head-to-toe. See for yourself.

This was a refreshing look and so much different than what she normally puts up on her feed. This made us stop and stare. She nailed every miniscule and mammoth detail of the look from her golden outfit to wavy long hair and that classy turban to her dewy, gorgeous makeup look. The credit also goes to her HMU artists Sapna Chugh and Supriya Bakhale, who made sure the actress looked like a spitting image of Deepika’s Mastani.

If this Shama Sikander’s little dress-up splendor re-kindled your love for the iconic makeup look as well, here is how you can recreate the look too. Once you manage to get a similar flowy outfit in glistening golden embellishment and a turban (which you can get easily from Amazon or any other shopping website), you can go on to create the makeup. Start by moisturising and priming your skin and then apply a liquid foundation for a dewy base. Blend and apply concealer under your eyes or uneven skin tone. Apply some blush and generous amount of highlighter because it’s all about clear and dewy skin.

For eyes, simply use some golden eyeshadow and line your upper lid. Wear mascara and enhance your brows. Shama’s MUA has given her a bolder lip shade than Deepika wore in the song so it’s really up to you how dark you want your pout to be. We suggest going for a blurred lip with a coral red. Style your hair in soft curls and wear hair extensions for those long locks just like Mastani. And, you are done!
