Sex And The City’s Reboot Could Be An Exciting Opportunity For Fashion Labels To Be Involved In The Fabulous Lives Of Carrie And Friends

Hello, lover! That’s how Carrie Bradshaw greets her Manolo Blahnik shoes. And I’ll admit that I subconsciously started talking to my shoes (which were way cheaper than a pair of Manolos, of course) the same way every time I opened my footwear closet after watching that scene in Sex And The City. Not just Manolos, a number of top fashion brands got a verbal mention as well as visual endorsement on the show by the four young and successful girls from New York; Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda and Carrie.

The most sought-after luxury fashion brands like Chanel, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Tiffany were constantly a part of the gal group’s lives and dinner conversations which gave these brands amazing exposure back in early 2000s. Since the fashion-forward series is all set to return after a 14 years sabbatical, designers and brands are pinning their hopes to place their products in the fabulous lives of Carrie and friends. I mean, obviously!

The brand mentions by Carrie and co. reminded the audience of not just their envious life of luxury but also the finery and reliability of the fashion items the girls trust to keep up their style quotient high. These are some of the most stylish female characters living in one of the fashion capitals of the world so you know when they obsess over a brand, it’s worth the stake. Tapping on this school of thought, the fashion brands are eager to partner with the series and we think it’s an exciting opportunity for them to get a SATC-esque exposure.

The reboot of the HBO comedy comes just at time when the stores have started to open after painfully long lockdown and shoppers are itching to invest in some good ol’ fashion buys. We have been holding our purse strings tight for too long because it wasn’t really worth shelling out big bucks just to post a ‘all dressed up and nowhere to go’ picture on the gram. Now that we are ought to have a social life again, we will be spoiling ourselves rotten with fashion splurges and knowing what the young single women in their 30s whose lives revolve around dating, career and fashion are putting their money on is bound to guide us.

The show has influenced the young shoppers throughout its six-year run and women looked up to the foursome as fashion figures, often imitating their styles and purchasing the brands as seen in the wardrobe of the girls. The new season could be a lucrative opportunity for the brands to be involved in the show and mark their presence post-lockdown.

From Fendi to Prada, the designer clothes and shoes never missed a mention in the quartet gossips and conversations whether they were sipping martinis or discussing fashion trends at Barney’s. We can expect this trend of talking up brands and Carrie and pals leaving us green with envy every time they step out the store with a bag of an Italian fashion label in the upcoming season as well. What I am excited to know though is whether Carrie would still be fixated on her Manolos or she’d have a new shoe brand to obsess over.
