Samantha Akkineni Follows The Steps Of Actors-Turned-Designers, Launches A Fashion Label Called Saaki

Glamming up and being papped for it is a part of celeb life. Every time these celebrities step out, their looks are dissected, studied and everyone jots down a few fashion tips. Forget the red carpet, even their airport looks or gym looks are replicated by women. They are the trendsetters who give out major fashion goals and so, it is only obvious that they expand their fame to the fashion space and make their style statements accessible and available to their fans. And, of course, make some money out of it, while they are it, because why not! I am talking about celebrities turning designers and putting their very own fashion statement, up for grabs.

The South superstar Samantha Akkineni is the latest one to join the ranks of actor-turned-fashion moguls and she is all set to launch her clothing line. The brand, named Saaki, is a reflection of the actor, according to her. She took to twitter to announce the She captioned the video, “Saaki @saakiworld is finally here! Saaki has been a dream of mine and my baby for many months. It is a reflection of my love for fashion and my journey in life. #saakiforyou #launchingsoon Hope you like it.”

The actor said the designs would be accessible and affordable and the looks would be practical rather than unachievable. Her statement on the brand’s page reads, “Every woman likes to dress up and wants to feel special. I have always wanted fashion accessible to everyone so they can celebrate their individual expression through fashion. For me, Saaki is a reflection of who I am, as I am.”

She is not the only one from the showbiz to hop on the train to the fashion world. Many Bollywood actors have made the fashion progression with their own clothing lines. Here are all the celebrities who turned their love for fashion into money-making ventures.

Anushka Sharma – Nush

Anushka wears many hats and one of them is of a fashion entrepreneur. She founded her brand called Nush back in 2017 and I, for one, was very excited for two reasons. I love Anushka’s style; it is pretty casual and cool, basically, fuss-free, when she was not dolled up for a glam event, obviously. So, I knew there would be pieces both fashionable and functional. And, two, they featured dresses and tees with gorgeous prints, vibrant colours and relaxed silhouettes, you know nothing too fancy-shmancy, just some breezy looks for the girl-on-the-go.

Deepika Padukone – All About You

You can’t think of Deepika and not think about her ultra-feminine style statement. Flowy dresses, roomy kurtas and floral prints makes for her wardrobe essentials and her brand is simply an extension of her relaxed fashion choices. Her stunning indo-western pieces are to swoon over. However, recently, Deepika sold 100 percent stake of the brand to Myntra which has acquired the brand. So, you can still shop it, it’s just that it’s not DP’s anymore. Sad!

Any fashion obsessed girl would sell a limb for a sneak peek into Sonam and her stylist sister Rhea Kapoor’s wardrobe. While their brand didn’t exactly consist of elaborate evening gowns and low-cut dresses, as one would have expected (I sure did), it was more about the B side of the roll. While the collection had some cool graphic tees (special mention: their 90s nostalgia collection) and stylish outerwear for the fashion minimalists, their unconventional style reflected in their eccentric sarees, boho blouses and chic co-ords.

Kriti Sanon – Ms. Taken

If I had to describe Kriti Sanon’s style, I would say peppy and young, just like the actor herself. Her brand Ms Taken has fashion staples for a girl like herself who’s probably juggling between work and bumble dates. It ranges from semi-formal outfits to sporty tees to date-appropriate dresses. The leggy actress’s collection has some super cute shorts and thigh-high slit dresses as well for you to flaunt them gams.
