Okay Someone Tell Us, What Are These Super Shiny Latex Pants That Celebs Are Sporting?

Okay Someone Tell Us, What Are These Super Shiny Latex Pants That Celebs Are Sporting?

We are mostly acquainted with the various fashion trends–both good and really, really weird ones–from celebrity looks. Every time they step out in a quirky pair of shoes or statement glasses or some never-seen-before saree style, we know we have got to try it. Although sometimes they debut trends that just don’t make sense or simply don’t look that good. One of the recent fashion trends that Bollywood stars seem to be really into right now is latex pants. No, not the latex leggings that was made popular by the likes of Kim Kardashian and the clan. These are not skin-tight but have a relaxed fit, paper bag waist and narrow hemline. We have spotted celebrities like Shraddha Kapoor, Nora Fatehi and Sanjana Sanghi slipping into these squeaky pants lately but we aren’t particularly a fan of the look.

Latex has been a huge fashion trend last year and the international ramps were awash with suits, dresses and skirts made of dangerously fitted and super lustrous material. Fashion folks were debating whether the trend was worth a keep since the PVC clothing isn’t exactly appealing and harms the environment too. Latex is a rubbery material made of polyvinyl chloride (vinyl or PVC), nitrile rubber and polychloroprene. Plus, I can only imagine what it feels like to wear this very non-breathable fabric on a hot summer day. Yeah, we’ll pass. I don’t want to be in a sticky situation. We all know how that ends. We have watched it happening to Ross in Friends.

And, even if I convince myself to manage the uncomfortable fabric, you know for the sake of fashun, I still don’t feel it’s really worth adding to my closet. The rubberized pants have a shiny and slippery appeal that basically looks uggs on the relaxed fit! These baggy pants seem too unkempt and uncool. The latex leggings, however, were actually sexy and if I had to pick one, I’d bring them back rather than investing in these pants. I guess, for the fashion maximalists and those who love to experiment, can give it a try. Here is how these Bollywood stars paired their latex pants.

Nora Fatehi has served latex looks plenty of times and this is just one of them. Although her black latex pants and top set in her music video and a mauve latex suit that she wore for a shoot could be pretty impractical, here is one casual look she wore that you can copy. She wore a grey tank top with paper bag latex pants and strappy black heels. This is the perfect summer look if you aren’t exactly in a humid place.

Singer Tulsi Kumar wore these latex cargo pants in paper bag style and teamed it with a printed crop top. This look is equal parts edgy and sophisticated and since the pants look less shiny and spunky, you could wear them to a casual meet or an event where you don’t necessarily need to dress up prim and proper, but a bit experimental would do.

Sanjana Sanghi wore these shiny black PVC pants featuring tie-up details on the hem with an olive green bandeau top also with a tie up detail. She also balanced her dramatic and attention-grabbing bottoms with a toned down top, just like Nora did and we are starting to believe this is the only right way to style these pants if you don’t want to look too OTT.

What do you think about these pants? Yay or Nay?
