Kangana Ranaut, Hrithik Roshan Feud Comes Back From The Dead, With Crime Branch Playing Referee. Ugh, Not Again
Guess what? Kangana Ranaut squabbling with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray or engaging in Twitter banter with Diljit Dosanjh is so passé. Before this year wraps up, you get to see the OG feud in action. I know you’re going to say I’m stretching it, and blaming everything on 2020, but OMG, you guys. You’d need something with truly powerful ‘panauti’ mojo to resurrect the infamous Hrithik Roshan – Kangana Ranaut feud from 2016. And if I look far and wide, I only see one culprit to blame here, sorry 2020.
What’s new with Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut?
Back in 2016, Hrithik Roshan had filed a law suit against Kangana Ranaut for calling him as her “silly ex” during an interview. Amongst a lot of things, the one issue that came to be highlighted was a ‘He Said She Said’ situation. Hrithik claimed that Kangana had sent him over 1400 emails that were “senseless, personal, and absurd.” He said he ignored them. However, Kangana claimed that Hrithik had created a new email id so as not to cause any issues in his ongoing divorce proceedings with then wife Suzanne Khan. To this, Hrithik had claimed that there was an imposter pretending to be him, with whom Kangana Ranaut was engaging until May 2014 on email. An FIR was also registered for the same. Although, nothing came of it.
Now, for some inexplicable lack of other important cases, this ‘imposter’ case has been transferred by the Mumbai Police to its crime intelligence unit (CIU) for a speedy resolution. This decision was taken after Hrithik Roshan’s lawyer, Mahesh Jethmalani wrote to the Mumbai Police Commissioner about it. It has been four years, and no resolution has happened.
Kangana Ranaut’s Twitter triggered again
I suppose Kangana Ranaut and Twitter are attached to the hip now. As soon as the news about this fresh probe broke, with summons issued to the actress by the Mumbai Police to appear before them, she tweeted. She called this a rekindling of Hrithik’s “sob story” and how he wasn’t able to move on from it, bringing a halt to her own personal life once again.

A timeline of Hrithik v/s Kangana feud
For those who made the wise decision to block those 2016-2017 memories from their heads, here’s a refresher. When Hrithik and Kangana were working on Krrish 3 together in 2013, there were rumours of them dating. However, they kept it all under wraps, until a fateful interview where Kangana talked about her ‘silly ex’ getting her ousted from a film. Since Hrithik was supposed to star in the film originally, rumours mills began churning once again.
There was a lot of Twitter banter between the two, with Hrithik denying the affair. Even Rakesh Roshan and Rangoli Chandel got dragged into it. Finally, in 2016, Hrithik Roshan slapped a lawsuit on the Tanu Weds Manu actress, for her “silly ex”, and things got ugly. Hrithik made the colossal mistake of saying Kangana had Asperger’s Syndrome, causing a lot of backlash at him for his insensitive remark. That is also when he filed the FIR about the imposter sending emails to Kangana in his name. However, Kangana continued to maintain that the emails were sent by Hrithik and not some third person.

After a much heated debate in the media, and lots of celebs picking sides (mostly Hrithik’s), the feud dispersed automatically sometime around the end of 2016.

How did that happen? Both parties just fizzled out with their volleys at each other. Kangana Ranaut got busy with the release of Simran (2017). However, during promotional interviews for the movie, she did mention that the case was not exactly shut, and the truth would prevail soon enough.
And now, here we are.

The thing with Bollywood feuds is that they tend to get ugly when the stars start washing their dirty linen in public. With Hrithik v/s Kangana, there’s already been so much water under the bridge. Moreover, Kangana Ranaut’s recent tryst with politics has already turned people against her. Not to mention, there’s been an overdose of Kangana Ranaut and her problematic statements. She’s clearly not helping her case by using Twitter to malign any and everyone who speaks against her. On the contrary, Hrithik Roshan’s stoic silence makes him appear dignified, which is likely to fly better when it comes to social media trials.
Of course, time will tell how this pans out. But for me, I’m just sighing loudly over the knowledge that whatever happens, I’m going to have to write about it. Sigh Sigh Sigh.
