US Vice Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris Advises Women To “Eat No For Breakfast”. This Meal Has Our Vote!

California Senator and Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris is rather busy these days. The presidential elections are ongoing in the United States and she and Presidential candidate Joe Biden are busy campaigning. But one thing we can tell you for sure is that no matter how crazy it gets, Harris won’t ever be skipping breakfast, especially now that we know how healthy it is not just for her body but for her ambitions too! In fact, she advises all women include this healthy staple in their diet! It’s this word called “No” and for many people, it’s an acquired taste.

The 55-year-old American senator, born to a Jamaican father and an Indian mother happens to be the first Indian-origin and woman of colour to be in the race. Naturally, she is an inspiration for many young women out there. On Sunday, Kamala Harris posted a video of herself answering questions from Instagram users. And one of the questions was about the advice that she would give to women. Her reply wasn’t just inspiring but also quite healthy, if you ask me!

“You never have to ask anyone permission to lead. I have in my career been told many times, ‘It’s not your time’, ‘It’s not your turn’. Let me just tell you, I eat ‘No’ for breakfast. So, I would recommend the same. It’s a hearty breakfast.”

You asked, I answered.

Hear Hear! Saying no has always been something that women are discouraged to do, except if it is saying no to one’s own dreams, hopes and ambitions. But as Harris points out, to ascend to leadership positions, there are times when you have to say no to the naysayers and stay positive on your course. Now isn’t that some advice to keep you fit and active en route success?

Kamala Harris also answered a bunch of other questions, such as what she and Joe Biden plan to do for the LGBTQ+ community as well as the environment, if they were to win. The California senator’s Indian heritage makes it impossible to have any Q&A without a question about her desi preferences. One of the questions posed to Harris during this video was about her favourite Indian dishes.

“So South Indian, it would be Idli with… a really good sambar. And then North Indian… probably any kind of tikka”.

Kamala Harris has been making major effort to connect with the Indian diaspora in the United States. She has even been endorsed by several South Asia celebs like Padma Lakshmi and Mindy Kaling. In fact, Harris even did a fun video with Kaling, where the two South Indian-origin Americans cooked a desi meal and bonded over their love for dosas, and how their desi moms all love this particular brand of jars to hold all their masalas!

The results of the US 2020 presidential elections will be inaugurated in January 2021. And if Joe Biden wins, he will bring Kamala Harris on board as the first female vice president of the United States. That’s quite a landmark honour, and much overdue for a country like US that positions itself as a power for other nations to look up to.
