The Indian Eves managed three consecutive victories and remained unbeaten in the Chile Tour so far. For the first two matches earlier this week, they played the Chile Junior Women’s Team and defeated them in both matches. In the third match, Chile’s Fernanda Villagran had given her host team the advantage. Chile’s Simone Avelli scored their second goal but it came too late in the game to beat the goals scored by Deepika, Sangita Kumari, and Lalrindiki for India, which helped us win the match.

In true filmy style, in the first quarter, our Indian women’s junior hockey team was able to penetrate into Chile’s striking circle twice, but no goals were scored by either side. In the second quarter though, the host team was in full offense mode as Chile’s seasoned players took over and accelerated the game. They won consecutive penalties and India conceded the opening goal which was scored by Villagran. Chile took this opening lead of theirs into the half-time.

The third quarter is where things got quite interesting for India. In the first nine minutes itself, we won five penalty corners, and Deepika finally scored our first goal in the match in the 39th minute. With the pressure on Chile intact, India’s striker Sangita Kumari went on to score a goal, giving us a 2-1 lead. In the fourth quarter, the pressure continued to build up on Chile, as our Lalrindiki seized her open chance and brought India it’s 3-1 lead in the 47th minute. Avelli’s second goal for Chile in the 56th minute came too late.
Hearty congratulations to our girls! You’ve made us super proud!
