From Pretty Braids To Gorgeous Buns, Here Are Some Super Easy Festive Hairstyles You Can DIY For Diwali

This year has been pretty much a drag and the only thing I’ve been looking for is the festive season. And why wouldn’t we be excited for the only event that’s providing us the opportunity to glam up in what eight months now? Tell me this is not one of the reasons you are waiting for this festival and I’d say you’re lying to yourself. Diwali is the perfect opportunity to put on a gorgeous Indian outfit, work a beautiful hairstyle and rock a creative eye makeup (since that’s the only part of your face that would be visible over face mask).

So, there isn’t too much time left for Diwali now and I am literally fretting about the hair and makeup I am going to sport. If you share the sentiment (or panic, I should say) then you can relax because we’ve got some real nice festive hairdos that you are going to love.

Taking some inspo from celebrities and beauty bloggers, we have curated some cool festive hairstyles and a tutorial for each to make things easier for you. From dainty braids to gorgeous buns, here are five super stunning festive hairstyles that you can try on Diwali with your Indian ensembles.

Pretty ponytail

Who said a ponytail and Indian wear don’t go hand in hand? A ponytail isn’t your workout staple anymore; in fact, it looks incredibly gorgeous with your festive outfit if you do it right. To start with pull your hair in a mid-high ponytail and add a hair tie to secure it. Next, go on and place some tiny fresh flowers complementing your outfit with the help of bobby pins on one side. Spritz some hairspray to get a sleek look and tame any flyaway hair.

Messy boho braid

The usual three-pleat braid is too boring on a normal day, we wouldn’t wish on our worst enemy to wear it on a festive occasion. While there are plenty of braid options like fishtail and French that goes pretty well with Indian outfits, here is one that’s totally chic and fresh. Make a boho braid by making inverted ponytails taking small sections working your way from top to tips and secure with a hair tie in the end. Pull out the strands to make the braid messier and flatter. Let some wisps out from sides and you’re done.

For girls who aren’t big on intricate and complicated hairstyles but still don’t want to compromise on the show-stopping festive look, here is one very easy and effortless hairstyles that’s equally pretty. Style your hair in beach waves to make it look different from your everyday half-up. Now take the section of hair from the middle and tease it by backcombing to amp up the volume. Pin it in the back with hair pins and finish with a shine-boosting hairspray.

Bouffant bun

Speaking of teasing and backcombing, here is another very retro and quirky variation of bun you could score with the same technique. For this, tease your hair from the front section and pin it in a way that it makes a bouffant at the crown. Pull your hair in a ponytail and tease the ponytail hair too for a voluminous bun. Wrap the hair into a bun and secure.

Half bun with gajra

This is one experimental hairstyle that I absolutely love. While the half bun is so millennial and cool, the gajra is adding a traditional element to it making it the perfect festive hairstyle for us. Plus, it’s pretty easy to work too and goes with every kind of outfit, be it Indo-western or traditional wear. Divide your hair in two sections and wrap the upper half in a bun. Secure with hair pins and tie around a string of gajra around it. Secure it with bobby pins too and style the rest of your hair in soft curls.

If you are still in a fix, here are some other super cool festive hairstyles with tutorial that you can try out. You can thank us later.
