The Bollywood Girl Club Spent The Lockdown Indulging In Some Serious Skin TLC. Here Are 5 Skincare Practices They Inspired Us To Adopt Too

I never miss out on any opportunity to blame (and curse) 2020 for every minor inconvenience but even I’ll admit that this year truly gave me a chance to unwind and relax in a way that I would have never done in a million years if I wasn’t literally forced to. Amidst all the crazy WFH, I squeezed some time out for some much-needed TLC. I learnt to start taking care of my skin in the lockdown because, really, there wasn’t anything else to do, apart from the Netflix binges and baking marathon. Also, watching Bollywood celebrities indulging in good ol’ skincare practices nearly every day did prompt me to reach for my beauty stash too.

With absolutely nowhere to go, our makeup products took a back seat and the skincare staples took the centre stage. Celebrities shared daily snippets from their lockdown-struck life on their social media and most of it involved skincare practices that we felt seriously motivated to adopt too. From the regular beauty practices like face masking and yoga to some new and interesting ones like oil pulling, here are 5 skin R&R activities that Bollywood girl club swore by during the lockdown and got us to follow these skincare practices too.

Face masking

I don’t think I could ever get the time and motivation to slap on a face mask before but the lockdown provided me ample of both. With shoots and events stalled indefinitely, celebs too could spare some minutes for the relaxing face masking sesh. We saw a bevy of face masks like Deepika’s DIY foil mask, Alia Bhatt’s sheet mask and even some homemade and natural face masks used by the likes of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alaya F who even shared the best-kept recipe of her mask.

Face rollers

Skincare tools like the face rollers became insanely popular during lockdown and Deepika Padukone can vouch for it. In one of the episodes from her lockdown productivity series which included skincare tips like eating right and face masking, she shared a picture of herself using a face roller. It helps depuff eyes and improves blood circulation which ultimately boosts glow and keeps you looking young. Huh, no wonder she has such great skin!

Yoga

A lot of celebrities spent the lockdown period breaking some sweat for the naturally healthy skin. I mean, while we were lazying around in our yoga pants (that we originally bought for workout but you know us), there were celebrities like Jacqueline Fernandez, Esha Gupta and Kareena Kapoor Khan who made sure to deliver their yoga pictures on their social media accounts every day to motivate us to get off the bed and breath in and breath out for good skin.

Oil Pulling

Anushka Sharma shared her morning routine in which she was practicing oil pulling a technique that flushes out toxins from body and other than dental benefits, it improves skin too. She wrote, “Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice known as “kavala” or “gandusha”, a dental technique that involves swishing little oil in your mouth on an empty stomach for few minutes and then spitting it out. This action is excellent for dental hygiene & health and also draws out toxins in the body.” We could do with some detoxing and getting clearer skin like her.

Some sun and SPF

Since there were no excuse to glam up and wearing tons of makeup on face, celebrities let their skin breathe and shared images of selfies flaunting their imperfections, no-makeup face and natural skin. Also, they spent their time taking in some Vitamin D goodness, but not before slathering on some SPF. Sun and sunscreen is a skincare habit we are totally swearing by for healthy skin, lockdown or not.
