5 Refreshingly Colourful and Chic Beauty Looks From The FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week 2021 Runway

Two of the biggest Indian fashion weeks, FDCI and Lakmé Fashion Week decided to come together this year for a joint seasonless, phygital fashion show for the first time in 15 years. Although the 5-day event is season-fluid, the beauty looks that strutted down the ramp clearly screamed spring and summer. The use of the coolest hues, floral print hair accessories and summer-apt makeup was evidence enough that the designers were preparing us for the upcoming season. The collection too featured interesting prints, bold colour palettes and flowy fabrics and breezy styles.

The past few months may have been pretty dull fashion and beauty wise, but if the looks spotted on the first two days of the fashion week are any proof, there’s hope for this year. Designers and makeup artists have curated the most creative and colourful looks for the season and inspired us to play with vibrant hues, shapes and textures in our makeup too, you know, for the pool party invitations pending from last year.

We saw scarf wrapped space buns, sequins on lids and many more exquisite and edgy looks that make for the perfect summer beauty looks for you to try. Here is a rundown of all the chic and stunning hair and makeup looks that made an appearance on the first two days of the FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week 2021 runway. Spoiler: Scarves, colourful lids and nude lips were the stars of the show.

The All About India presented Chola The Label, Huemn and Khanijo and the one beauty trend that was common in all these shows was attention-grabbing brows. While the models in Chola walked down the ramp in heavily defined and dark brows, Khanijo featured tinted brows with artistic shapes. While tinted brows may have been a beauty fad, this looks really creative and aesthetic.

The looks at the Circular design challenge show were so much fun and the credit goes to the hair artist. The space buns tied in mismatched printed scarves was an absolute mimic-worthy hairstyle for summers. Not only is it playful and incredibly cute, but the hairdo also keeps your tresses pulled up on the hottest of days. We love practical and pretty hairstyles like these.

Every season there is at least one look that features a colour riot on the eyes. By now, it is sort of difficult to spot a look that uses the same trend but still looks different and offbeat. Pankaj and Nidhi and their makeup artists nailed it, and how. They used a blend of bright and pastel on the lids of the models which was in sync with the collection too that incorporated the same colour schemes.

The HMU for Arpita Mehta’s SS21 collection ‘Reflection’ meticulously featured reflecting sequins all over the eyes set against highlighted skin and nude lips. The show was filmed on a beach so the models were given the wet hair look. Again,  very creative and relevant conceptualisation! All in all, this look is perfect for the pool party we were talking about earlier.

Finger waves, scarf hairstyles and dewy base coupled with glossy tinted lids and nude lips. Does this look perfectly capture different eras of beauty in one or what? For the Cocoon Prakash show, the models looked ethereal in the glistening makeup look teamed with trendy scarf hairstyles and sleek finger waves from the 1920. This statement look is so versatile and creative.
