Reviewed: L’Oréal Paris Caresse CC Balm Genius
I’m a brand loyalist. So much so that if I like a product from a certain brand, I’ll stick with it until they discontinue it. After which, I observe a period of mourning and stubbornly refuse to look for an alternative. The lip balms from Labello have been my absolute favourite for 14 years straight. I’ve tried their balms from every range, and none of them disappoint.
This in no way means that I don’t like trying new stuff, though. Which brings me to Caresse CC Balm Genius from L’Oréal Paris. They recently launched a new range of tinted lip balms, and I tried the shade Summer Sienna.
Summer Sienna — as the name suggests — is a gorgeous shade of orange. I would say it’s an out and out tangerine hue and does not lean towards either warm or cool tones. The balm glides on the lips smoothly and the colour payoff is so good and even that just one swipe is enough to cover pigmented lips.
Make no mistake, though: these aren’t lipsticks. If you’re expecting bright and bold colours you’ll be disappointed. The Caresse CC Balm Genius is for people who want nourishing balms with a hint of colour. Enriched with natural hydrating oils, the balm keep lips moisturised and hydrated for up to 4 hours after which you need to reapply it. What I like is that the colour fades off evenly. Even though the balm has a rich, creamy texture, it does not slip or bleed even on my oily skin.
This could very well be one of those balms that you can wear on the go without having to use a mirror.
