Reviewed: Lakmé Enrich Matte Lipstick
I’ve always been fearless while experimenting with beauty products and have taken quite a few risks with my makeup. Thankfully, I’ve had more hits than misses. However, most of my experimentation have been centred around my eyes, and I’ve steered clear of lipsticks. Oily skin + lipsticks with creamy formula = painful memories of lipstick bleeding off lips. Forgive me if I sound dramatic, but matte lipsticks literally changed my life. I can’t get enough of these and have worn some rather unconventional shades.
Obviously, I’m always kicked about trying newer products. Lakmé just launched their Enrich Matte Lipsticks and I tried the shade PM 11, a gorgeous neutral pink lipstick. However, I do think it leans towards a cool-toned pink… just a little bit though. The colour is a bright, just-one-step-short-of-neon pink.
Make no mistake, this isn’t your regular matte lipstick. Despite being a matte formula, the lipstick has a creamy formula that goes on smoothly. Application without tugging on lips, did you say? I’m game. Initially, I was a little put off that the lipstick didn’t dry down to completely matte. However, I let it grow on me and I quite liked the sheen (not gloss) which lasted about an hour.
One of the major drawbacks of matte lipsticks is how they make your lips feel drier than the Sahara Desert. And here’s where Lakmé’s Enrich Matte lipstick scores. The formula is creamy and did not make my lips feel uncomfortably dry for up to 4 hours, by which time I noticed a little fading. The lipstick gives 4-5 hours of wear and does not transfer, which is something I was dreading considering its creamy sheen. It feels moisturising and is perfect for people who want a nourishing lipstick in a matte formula since it combines the best of both worlds.
