Kareena’s Make-Up Pro Reveals The Secret To Her Smokey Eyes
Ok folks, it’s time for a confession! Although I didn’t like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham one bit, I must admit that my teenage self was head over heels in love with Kareena Kapoor’s character Poo! Ever since I’ve always thought that Kareena looks effortlessly beautiful and I think most people will agree with me. Last evening, Kareena was spotted looking drop-dead gorgeous while promoting her new movie Ki & Ka. I loved the stunning simplicity of her barely-there smokey eyes, and I simply had to find out how she nailed it.
So like an eager fan girl I hounded Ritesh Naik, Kareena’s go-to make-up artist for the last 16 years(!), to tell me all about this look. Being the lovely guy he is, he gave me a blow-by-blow lowdown on the look. Here’s what he said:
For the base, Ritesh used Cetaphil moisturiser mixed with a teeny bit of MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation because Kareena has great skin and hardly needs coverage. Besides, he wanted to create a very natural look and didn’t want anything cakey. Take note girls: Never skip moisturiser if you want to look like a glowing goddess!
On her eyelids, he blended two light brown shadows from the legendary Urban Decay Naked palette. This was followed by Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil Noir on her waterline. The same kohl was used on the lower lashline and blended in.
Importantly, Ritesh said that the key to nailing this look is not in the products but in the technique. Blend, blend, and blend till you can blend no more! It is THE most important step in nailing this smoked out effect. A few coats of L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes Mascara and her peepers were done.
Christian Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush was used to add a hint of colour to her cheeks to make them look naturally flushed. A swipe of Dior Addict Lip Glow was topped with an Estee Lauder lipstick in nude.
I just got myself some make-up inspiration for Saturday night! What about you?
