#HauteHack: You Won’t Believe How Easy It Is To Treat Dandruff!

By  |

I might come across as a beauty snob when I say this, but I find the sight of dandruff extremely off-putting. Those flaky white bits stuck between strands of hair — holding on for dear life before falling onto and lining the fabric on your shoulders — is wholly unpleasant. Dandruff can be caused thanks to sensitivity to certain hair care products, shampooing too often, or not often enough, eczema and psoriases. While medicated shampoos work well in getting rid of those dreadful flakes of dead skin, aspirin is a great home remedy.

Aspirin contains salicylates, which happens to be the active ingredient in most medicated anti-dandruff shampoos. Salicylic acid has fungicidal and anti-microbial properties which help fight the flakes caused by fungus. All you need is two pills of aspirin for a capful of shampoo. Crush two aspirin pills and mix it with one capful of shampoo in a bowl. It is better to use a fragrance and dye-free shampoo that has as few ingredients as possible when you have dandruff because you never know which additives might aggravate your condition. Use the mixture to wash your hair. Leave it on for five minutes to allow the salicylic acid to exfoliate your scalp and rinse.
