3 Deliciously Easy Lip Balms You Can Make At Home!

By  |

With the weather constantly changing, we need to take good care of our skin. And the first place where dryness is visible is the lips. I don’t know about you but my lips get chapped very easily. So my makeup kit is full of lip balms that help me moisturise them throughout the day.

One of my favourite lip balms is the watermelon one by The Body Shop. But instead of buying a new chapstick literally every few weeks (I actually go through them pretty quickly!), I decided to make some of my own. And to be honest, it was so easy I wondered why I hadn’t done it sooner (and saved myself some serious cash!).

2. Mint & Chocolate Lip Balm

You will have to resist yourself from eating this lip balm. After all, there are actual choco chips in it!

  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of sweet almond oil
  • 3 drops of Vitamin E oil (from capsules)
  • 4 semi-sweet chocolate chips or 1/3 teaspoon of cocoa powder
  • 2 drops of pure peppermint extract

  • Place ingredients in small heat-proof bowl and set aside.
  • Place some water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Put the bowl with ingredients in the saucepan and stir until everything is thoroughly combined.
  • Pour the mixture into small containers and allow it to cool down completely. Make sure to not close the container until it has cooled down.

3. Coconut & Rose Water Lip Balm

This lip balm looks absolutely gorgeous. The rose petals make it so fresh and soft that your lips automatically curve into a smile.

  • 1 tablespoon beeswax
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 5 drops of any essential oil of your choice (lavender is used in this recipe)
  • 1 tablespoon of rosewater

  • Place some water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Put a small heat-proof bowl in the saucepan and cut or grate one tablespoon of beeswax into it.
  • When the beeswax is almost melted, add 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and 3 tablespoons of honey.
  • Let the mixture simmer and combine for 5 to 7 minutes and turn off the heat.
  • Add 5 drops of essential oil and a tablespoon of rose water.
  • Stir a couple times, then pour the mixture into pretty little tins.
