We Reviewed MyGlamm’s HD Brows Service So You Don’t Have To
How would you react if I told you that you didn’t need to step into a salon for your monthly eyebrow threading routine anymore? You’d be excited, right? I know I was when MyGlamm reached out to us to review its new HD Brows service.
For those of you not in the know, MyGlamm is a convenient app that allows you to book appointments for all kinds of in-house beauty treatments (for now, it’s available in Mumbai and Pune only). From waxing and threading, manicures and pedicures, to facials, luxury spa treatments and lash extensions, you can book one or multiple services and their trained staff will buff you up right in the comfort of your home. Just download the app, select your service, pick the date and time, and they’ll arrive at your doorstep.
I decided to get the HD Brows service — a UK-based eyebrow grooming company that’s launched in India via the app — as I was quite excited to try statement brows a la Deepika Padukone. I was planning to head out to a party later in the evening, so I figured this would be the perfect way to amp up my makeup game for the weekend.
My stylist arrived on time and I settled in for the service. She started out by colouring my brows almost immediately, by applying a brow tint to fill them in. She let it sit for a few minutes, after which she cleaned my eyebrows using an in-house product called Vanish to remove the excess tint from my skin. She explained that the tint helps to make brows look thicker and darker and stays for up to two weeks.
The HD Brows service includes face shape analysis and the stylist then waxes your brows accordingly (although if threading is what you want they can do that too). My stylist used a special kind of wax to groom my brows (no, it’s not your regular waxing wax) as the skin around your eyebrows is very sensitive. There was no burning sensation nor was it hot. Once she waxed the area around and in between my brows, she wiped the surface clean and plucked the remaining hair to give my brows a more defined look. The grooming was excellent and my brows have never looked so neat and defined before.
What didn’t work for me — at all — was the last part, when she filled in my brows with coloured powder to make them appear thicker. While I like having dark and well-defined eyebrows, I wasn’t too thrilled with the results as my brows looked a little too strong with unnaturally defined arches and ends — almost like they’d been painted on. The powder comes off easily with makeup remover or wet wipes but the tint stays for a few weeks, which I didn’t mind at all.
If you’d like to try this service at home, I suggest you talk to your stylist beforehand and understand exactly what it entails, and explain what you’re comfortable with. Overall, I really liked the quality of the grooming and the tint did help make my brows appear darker though I wish she’d gone a little easy on the powder part. I might just give this service another shot in the coming weeks — with hopefully less dramatic results, of course!
