How To Get Glitter Lips For The Party Season

By  |

We can all ask for Pat McGrath‘s glittering Lust 004 lip kits this Christmas, but chances are they’ll be sold out, even for Santa Clause himself. So we’ve got to do what we do best in these situations — DIY. Party season calls for taking your sparkle and shine to the next level. Everyone pulls out their shimmering sweaters, sequinned dresses, and glittering stilettos.

While it’s normal to have some sparkly eyeshadow on, glittering lips have got to be the hottest makeup trend of the season. So if you didn’t manage to get your hands on one of Pat’s delicious creations, don’t stress, there are ways to get the look with makeup you might have handy at home.

You need to start with a base, MAC’s Lip Conditioner works quite well to lock in moisture and keep your lips hydrated for all the shine that’s about to come.

Next up would be the lipstick of your choice. You could be bold with a bright red or gold, or keep it subtle with a gentle pink. There are no restriction on the colours.

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick — Big Apple Red (Rs 325)

Makeup Revolution Lipstick — Girl’s Best Friend (Rs 650)

If your lipstick is creamy or glossy, you can go ahead and skip this step. But if you’re one of those super matte girls, you should know that lipgloss is a must when it comes to glitter lips. How else will the glitter stay on? A clear or glittering one works fine.

And now to the best part — the glitter! Any glitter pigment or sparkly eyeshadow will do the trick. Dip your brush in the eyeshadow and gently dab it on to your lips. You could just put some in the centre or go all out. Some of the glitter will fall off your lips, but don’t worry, there’s a solution to that too.

The best way to avoid any glitter escaping your lips during application would be to have tissue under your lip. But that can sometimes be hard to maneuver. So do it like Pat and just take a strip of cello tape, stick it to the affected area and lift the glitter right off your face.
