The Drugstore Eyebrow Gel That’s Got Zahra Going Gaga!

By  |

Hands up if you’ve been obsessing about your eyebrows as much as me lately. While I don’t have sparse eyebrows, I do feel like they need a little help in the density department these days. I mean, who doesn’t like nicely-shaped, fuller brows? They make a world of a difference to your overall look, even if you’re going for a barely there, no makeup situation. So I’ve been a little obsessed with making my eyebrows look fuller without going completely Instagram-style cray on them. And while Estee Lauder’s Brow Multi-Tasker has really been a boon in making them look fuller and darker, the one product I don’t leave home without anymore is Essence’s Make Me Brow eyebrow mascara.

Now we all know that Benefit makes some of THE most amazing eyebrow products, but those crazy price tags can really put a dent in your wallet. Our collective beauty obsessions don’t come cheap, and Benefit is definitely high up on the list of pricey but ‘damn I need that product’ list. So when I discovered that this Essence product is a flat-out dupe for Benefit’s Gimme Brow (available at Sephora), I just had to put it to the test. This 3-in-1 tinted gel mascara helps build colour, density, and shape in your eyebrows, and let me tell you that it is seriously as good as Benefit’s brow gel.

Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara

If you haven’t heard of Essence before, it is one of the leading drugstore cosmetics brands in Europe and is super pocket-friendly. What’s more, the quality is really on point. The tinted product contains tiny fibers that fill in unwanted gaps for perfectly accentuated and natural-looking brows. The shade I use is Browny Brown and it is not super pigmented, so it will work perfectly for all skin tones both fair and dark. (However, if you’re looking for Cara Delavigne-style bold brows, this isn’t going to cut it. You’re going to need a brow pomade or pencils to do the heavy-lifting, before setting them with something like this.)

The formula is gel-based and not thick, so it doesn’t harden your brows like other gel mascaras I’ve used. Apply it with a light hand to avoid build-up, and sweep them through your brows to deposit the pigment. The result is perfectly groomed, thicker-looking eyebrows in under 30 seconds.

If you’re going for a soft, natural, but defined look, you won’t be sorry you picked this product. Plus for that kind of price, its efficiency and affordability can’t be beat!
