This Selena Gomez Make-Up Tutorial Is Going To Be Our Date Night Staple
Forgive me if I sound like a fan girl right now, but I absolutely love ace make-up artist Elton J Fernandez’ work and have been following him for quite some time now. I love that he customises make-up according to the style and personality of the wearer. The best part about his tutorials on his YouTube channel is how he mixes high end brands with drugstore and little known brands from South East Asia! In his most recent outing, he recreates Selena Gomez’ look from her music video – Hands to Myself!
Elton starts with a primer (obviously!), the Korean Sivanna Colors Skin Primer, which has some iridescent shimmer in it. Next he applies a foundation only in the centre of the face with a Mini Beauty Blender Sponge from PAC which also happens to be a Hauterfly-recommended make-up sponge. When a make-up artist is at work, I like to see their technique more than anything else. Elton uses the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to highlight the centre of the face. You can also use Maybelline New York’s Fit Me Concealer which is a great dupe for the NARS Creamy Concealer.
Elton advises using a fluffy brush to apply loose powder because bigger brushes pick up and deposit less product, whereas flatter brushes are like fingers. They pick up more product and result in a heavy-handed application. As with the contouring and highlighting, Elton layers products while doing the eyes. He starts with a creamy product and follows it up with a powder to reinforce the colour. This is a great trick to make your make-up last really long.
