3 Simple Remedies For Dry, Cracked Feet!

Ever experienced the discomfort of the skin on your feet snagging on your sheets? If you have, then like so many others out there you have dry feet. Dry skin is prone to cracking fairly quickly, which is why it is essential to take good care of them. It won’t do to just dab some cream on the soles of your feet every now and then, or scrub them half-heartedly while you bathe. Preventing dry feet from cracking, or even healing cracked feet, needs a lot more initiative.

But first, if you’re wondering why the skin on your feet tends to crack, here’s why. Your feet do not have any oil glands and dryness occurs because of this. Moreover, if you fail to moisturise, it will only get worse. But don’t worry. With the help of these 3 quick and easy remedies, you can start paying attention to those often neglected areas. Here’s how you can use these home ingredients to heal dried and cracked feet.

1. Honey

Honey is considered a natural antiseptic. Besides, it has nourishing properties that can help to heal and revitalise skin. Here’s what you need:

  • 1 cup of honey
  • Half a bucket of warm water

Pour the honey into the bucket of water. Immerse your feet for a good 15 to 20 minutes. Scrub it off gently with a brush, rinse with water and pat dry. Do this on a regular basis to heal cracked feet.

2. Lemon

Fish out some lemons and pick up your trusted old bottle of Vaseline and you’re good to go. The acidic content in lemons paired with Vaseline’s moisturising benefits can help heal any type of skin, especially dry ones. Here’s what you need:

  • 4 or 5 drops of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Vaseline
  • Half a bucket of warm water

First, soak your feet in the bucket of warm water for 15-20 minutes. Then pat dry. Mix a teaspoon of Vaseline with the lemon juice and apply the mixture over the affected areas. Let this absorb in the skin. Make sure to keep some socks handy. As soon as the mixture has been absorbed, put on your socks and keep it on overnight. In the morning, you can gently wash it off with water. You should do this every night before bed for best results.

3. Olive Oil

Olive oil is packed with nourishing properties that can make your skin soft and supple. Here’s what you need:

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 cotton ball

Soak your cotton ball with olive oil. Gently massage this into your skin in circular motions for about 10 minutes. Put on socks to avoid leaving oily patches around the house. Once an hour has passed, wash your feet well. Once again, make sure to do this regularly if you really want to say goodbye to cracked feet.
