We’ve Found The Easiest Hack For Brighter, Cleaner Nails!

It’s a Herculean task to keep your nails pretty and pristine. We’re constantly fiddling around with things, which leads to our nails becoming chipped, dirty or (shudders) yellow! Stained and dull-looking nails are the absolute worst, right? If you’re prone to yellow nails, you probably try to hide it up with a coat of nail paint. But little do you realise that applying lashings of this paint to your nails, is not always the best option!

Stained and yellowish nails can occur because of a dozen reasons. It could be the after-effects of smoking, constantly applying that bottle of nail paint, or something as minute as eating food cooked with turmeric. But whatever the reason may be, I’m sure we all agree that we’d literally give an arm and a leg to get rid of that icky colour and have cleaner, shinier nails! While manicures are a wonderful option to keep your nails healthy and clean, there are other, easier ways to have clean nails.

And this hack that we’ve stumbled upon requires you to have just two things, both of which are lying by your wash-basins at home! So, here’s what you need:

  • Toothpaste
  • A toothbrush

Yes, that’s it! Now, for cleaner and whiter nails, follow this process.

  • Dab a pea-sized amount of toothpaste onto each nail.
  • Make sure the paste covers all the stains.
  • Let this sit for about 6-8 minutes.
  • Now pick up the toothbrush and scrub your nails gently.
  • Once you’ve scrubbed them thoroughly, rinse with warm water.

If you’d like, you can dip your fingers in a bowl of warm water afterward and then pat dry with a soft towel. You can do this twice a day, for better results. (Pssst! If you don’t want to use toothpaste, you can always opt for lime juice or tea-tree oil instead.)

Wondering why toothpaste can help? Well, just like it whitens your teeth, toothpaste can obviously whiten nails as well! The active whitening ingredients in toothpastes, like baking soda and peroxide, help get rid of discolouration. Now that you know all you need to, I think it’s time to get cracking! Try it out for yourselves. We’d love it if you would let us know how well it worked for you, in the comments below.
