#HauteList: The Best Beauty Launches Of July 2016
There’s never a dull day in Beautyville. There are tons of products hitting the shopping aisles Every. Single. Day. Products that promise nothing but the best, begging you to upgrade your beauty game. While a true-blue beauty junkie will swear that it takes nerves of steel to not wilfully go bankrupt, one has to ask the pertinent question: are these products worth the hype? That’s where we come in. In our monthly Best of Beauty series, we go through the process of rounding up some of the best new releases in skincare, haircare, makeup, the works. We sift through the gimmicks and tall claims, and present to you products that definitely live up to the hype.
I’m all ears when someone mentions a multi-tasking product. This lip and cheek colour duo from Colorbar comes in a chubby stick form, which, if I’m being honest, looks too cute to pass up. The soft, creamy texture glides smoothly without sitting heavily on the skin. The product is well-pigmented and offers a luminous finish. What’s best is it is free of parabens and artificial fragrance. Although I had a tough time picking between the shade rose gold and orange amber, the latter surely won because I think a hint of coral on the cheekbones is just the pick-me-up you need on a dull, rainy day.
Apart from creating some really noteworthy products, Himalaya Herbals is also known for its economical price points. Even though launching a tan removal mask in the middle of the monsoons is a little strange, anti-tan products are always welcome in a country obsessed with lightening and brightening their skin. The peel-off mask is enriched with orange peel extracts and honey, and helps in evening out the complexion and lightening tanned skin. It also absorbs excess sebum and leaves the skin feeling nourished and hydrated.
Drop of Light is the latest range of products from The Body Shop. Enriched with red algae and vitamin C, the range that includes a serum, foaming face wash, and day cream aids to make skin brighter and luminous. The brightening serum with its light-weight formula gets absorbed into the skin and leaves it feeling hydrated and velvety soft. It moisturises the skin, and makes it look brighter and luminous.
The Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner comes with a pencil on one end and a smudger on the other. The pencil is creamy and glides on without any tugging and offers good colour pay off. The colour Antique Green is a gorgeous emerald green. You can use the smudger to create a regular smoky look or go all out with an exaggerated winged tip and smoke it out for a va-va-voom effect. The eyeliner pencil is water resistant, does not crease and suits even sensitive eyes.
5. Maybelline New York Superstay 24hr Color – Timeless Rose (Rs 600)
The Superstay 24hr lip colour delivers exactly what it claims. The long-lasting formula just does not budge unless it is taken off with a makeup remover. The formula is incredibly nourishing and comfortable, and comes with a liquid lip tint on one end and a glossy stick balm on the other. The product is intensely pigmented but sits heavily on the lips. The shade Timeless Rose is a lovely nude pink that could very well become a go-to colour.
Available at all retail outlets.
The light-weight setting spray comes out in a super-fine mist and dries down immediately. Although it is touted as a matte finishing spray, it dries down to a part matte, part dewy finish. It offers great oil-control, is non-sticky and prevents makeup from transferring for up to 6 hours.
