Rockabilly Chic & Braided Mohawks On Day 4 Of AIFW
Hair experiments were the showstoppers on Day 4 of Amazon India Fashion Week SS16. To have so many hairstyles to lust over in a single day was like eye-candy for us. We were torn between ’50s pin-up rollers and bohemian braids until it was clear that there simply wasn’t one single favourite look. Here’s a compilation of what we saw, loved and were inspired by:
Throwback to the 50s
The theme at péro by Aneeth Arora was Rockabilly Chic as far as the hair and make-up were concerned. I have always been in love with the style inspiration from that era. Bandanas, rockabilly rolls, big-ass hair rollers, bright orange-red lips, and lashes – lots and lots of lashes – added a fun element to the show. It was love at first sight!
We kind of knew this was coming at AIFW 2016, considering graphic eyeliners were spotted all over the international runways, and yet we were blown away by the eyes at Malini Ramani and Gauri & Nainika‘s shows. People, take note. This is how you do bold and beautiful. Also worth mentioning are the braided faux mohawks/undercuts that the models’ hair were styled in.
Statement-making floral headgear had me drooling from the moment the models came sashaying down the ramp for Geisha Designs by Paras & Shalini. When I got to see what was under the floral arrangements I was BLOWN away! Huge, casual, textured braids were wrapped around the crown with plenty of hair extensions in stunning shades of bottle green and blue. What I really loved was the use of strong eyeshadows. The colour play was ah-mazing. I was mesmerised by the use of purples, lilacs, golden yellows, deep blues and greens on eye lids.
Sleek, shiny, straight hair parted in a deep side part tucked behind the ears was super chic at Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna’s show. Accentuated by pop orange pouts, it is what I would call a power look.
