#Cannes2017: Flaunt The Nude Makeup Glow JUST Like Aishwarya!
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and The Cannes Film Festival go waaaaay back. Over the years, her red carpet looks have mostly been on point (some have been a miss), but she’s always dared to go different whenever she could.
I mean, last year her appearance made headlines AND billboards (Amul wouldn’t miss out on that, now would they?), and also became an instant internet sensation. Why? Because of her rather off-beat choice of lip colour.
This time around she played it quite safe on day 3 of the film festival in terms of her makeup, but her dress… her dress was so Cinderella-esque that she literally looked like she had stepped out of a Disney movie. Wearing a Michael Cinco gown, Ash literally looked like she was all geared up to attend a fairytale ball.
Keeping her hair and makeup subtle and nude, we think Ash chose to make a statement with her dress this time around. And that’s a great thing for you too, because her entire makeup look is something that you can pull off without much effort. It isn’t too bold, out there, or OTT — this makes it perfectly suited for any occasion!
Also, we must add that she’s contoured her cleavage so beautifully.
We’ve broken down the simple, yet gorgeous formula to achieve Ash’s princess-esque look.
Making sure you prime your entire face and neck properly, then take a semi-sheer foundation and apply it to your face — this will even out your skin tone and give you that fresh face finish your nude makeup approach needs. The texture of the foundation should have a little glow and shouldn’t be completely matte, or else it might look flat.
Taking a corrector/concealer, apply it around the areas that are blemished — this means any discolouration, pigmentation, or spots. This will provide a smoother, blotch-free finish to your base.
As you can tell, Ash’s cheekbones are defined slightly, therefore with a darker shade contour your cheekbones and blend the product in with a brush or beauty blender. This will seamlessly create a hint of definition. Taking an illuminator or highlighting powder, concentrate on the apples of your cheek and dust some glow in.
Add a little bit more of the highlight on your brow bones and the bridge of your nose — don’t over do it, though. The idea is to NOT look overdone.
Using a translucent powder, dust it across your face to prevent shine. If you have oily skin, dust some across your entire face; if you’ve got an oily t-zone, concentrate on your forehead, nose, and chin only.
Here are all the products you will need to recreate this look effortlessly:
NYX HD Finishing Powder (Rs 825)
The eyes are a classic statement, which anybody can recreate. Taking a nude tone eye shadow, dust the pigment on to your eyelids and blend.
Create definition by lining your upper waterline with a gel liner. Then draw over the upper lid line with a liquid pen to intensify the line — make sure you leave the bottom line untouched, and clean up the residual product as you go. Whilst drawing the line, make it rather fine and be careful that it isn’t a dramatic cat-eye.
Using a mascara, lengthen those lashes and create volume.
Finish off by filling in sparse brows with a brow pencil in a shade that isn’t too loud.
The only part of her makeup that has a touch of colour in them are her lips. The lip colour on Aishwarya is nude, but it does have a tinge of brown. Line your lips with a similar shade as the lipstick, and colour it in if you want more definition.
Taking your nude brown lipstick, colour your lips in and smack them together to smooth out the pigment. Don’t dab it with tissue to matte it — the texture Ash is wearing has a little sheen to it!
