Aditi Rao Hydari Shows You How To Do #DesiGirl Beauty

When it comes to festive dressing, for most desi girls the mantra to follow is this: the brighter and bling-ier the outfit, the better it is. That attitude is (thankfully) changing, because “dressed to kill” does not equate to “dressed to overwhelm”. Indian outfits, accessories, hair, and make-up, don’t all have to fight for attention at the same time. Let one thing do the talking, and you’re golden. One actress who epitomises this is Aditi Rao Hydari. Her lovely beauty look caught my eye during the spate of Diwali bashes recently and I’ve got to say it’s a look I’m going to replicate shortly.

Dressed in a heavy ivory and gold Rimple and Harpreet outfit, her make-up was elegant and understated and complemented the outfit perfectly. Heavy jhumkas, a cocktail ring and a pretty gold clutch were her choice of accessories. The memo was clear: let the dress takes centre-stage and keep the beauty look super pretty.

I like how she kept things simple and added only a strong red lipstick for drama. (Find a red lipstick that flatters your complexion here.) Her eyes were given a wash of light bronze eyeshadow and lined with black eyeliner. The lower lash line was left bare, save for some brown eyeshadow smudged around the outer corner, and a set of falsies made her peepers pop. Centre-parted hair gathered in a neat bun finished the unfussy but pretty look, with a delicate bindi holding the entire look together rather nicely.
