5 Ways To Wear Metallic Makeup This Festive Season

5 Ways To Wear Metallic Makeup This Festive Season

Metallics have taken over the runway this season. Resurrecting from the 90s (Spice Girls circa. 1994), this trend is currently a haute favourite for designers. With festivities around the season, who doesn’t love a bit of shimmer and shine? I mean, we obviously don’t want to look like The Tin Man, but a little twinkle won’t hurt. Even if your lehenga for your best friend’s wedding isn’t all that dazzling, wearing metallics will definitely add a lot of oomph to your entire ensemble. Whether it was Payal Khandwala’s gold lip or the illuminating makeup done for Sabyasachi’s collection, this is one trend you must opt for during this season’s festivities.

We show you 5 different ways you can pull-off the metallic look.

1. SPARKLING EYELINER

We are aware that the classic black liner is irreplaceable, but since it is the festive season do, give the sparkling eyeliner a try. With that being said, this does come with a massive disclaimer — do not attempt to overdo this, or else you’re going to look like a clown gone wrong. With a fine-tip liner, over-line the metallic colour with black if you still want to maintain that classic look.

2. METALLIC LIP

Remember the time when a metallic lip was what every woman wore (not-so-tastefully)? Well, when history repeats itself, you usually learn from it and thankfully, that’s what has happened with this trend. A subtle metallic pink, nude, or gold looks absolutely stunning with anything ethnic. Give all your mattes a break this season!

3. METAL NAILS

Metallic nail colours were a massive thing back in the 90s. Looking back, it was all actresses such as Kajol, Karisma Kapoor, and Rani Mukherji actually wore. A modern take on this trend would be to do a metallic french tip! Yes we all love the white/nude french manicure, but don’t you think you need something less boring during festivities? If you want to go the extra mile, then ditch the squares and file them to points.

4. BRONZE SMOKY EYE

You know that the smoky eye is the perfect go-to for the festivities and we just can’t get enough of it. Our suggestion, however, would be to trade in your black for a bronze. You can achieve various looks with this one colour, ranging from full-coverage smoky eyes to a slight dusty effect. If you are keeping the rest of your makeup at minimal, try going full-blown cat-eye, not with your liner but with your eyeshadow instead. It will add that extra DRAA-MAA your festivities need!

5. DUST AND SHINE FACE

We go straight for the face with this look and the key lies in your highlighter/bronzer. Giving you a fresh-faced look, concentrate on areas where light naturally hits your face. Add a little shimmer, keeping your lips nude and your eyes simple — this would be a perfect afternoon look. Not OTT and yet, très sexy!
