5 Insta-Worthy Lipstick Trends To Swear By This Party Season!
Glitter lips, metallic lips, and holographic lips are cool and all, but I think we need a break, right? With the new lip launches that have taken over even the most basic vanities, it’s time for change.
It’s party season and so, we don’t need an excuse to bust out and rock a cool lip trend. Here are 3 trends we’ve seen on Autumn / Winter runways and on the feeds of the LIT-est Insta trendsetters. You can rock the look too, easy peasy!
1. Stained Lips
Use a cheek and lip stain and apply it like lip balm on your lips.
To amp up the look, apply a nude lipstick in shades of neutral pink to your entire lip and then dab the lip stain in the centre of your lips. Nothing says sexy like stained lips!
2. Faux Lip Piercing
The faux lip piercing. Instagram loves it. All the Kardashians have slayed it, and we’ve seen it on runways from the Balmain show to Givenchy. So, this trend is definitely haute, if you’ve got what it takes to pull it off with an edge.
Apply lipstick as usual, then use a metallic lipstick or a coloured liner to draw a straight line down the middle of your bottom lip. Make it thick as per your preference. If you need help, put tape down two sides of your bottom lip, so you can fill the gap in between, then touch up your lip after you remove the tape.
3. Gilded Strobe Lips
The gilded / metallic / strobe effect (whatever you want to call it) can be applied anywhere on your lip.
Apply a base lip colour and then apply elements of metallic gloss (you can make your own by mixing eyeshadow with clear gloss) on random areas on your lip. For starters, the M below the cupid’s bow is a good place to start. Have fun with the look and if you want to amp it up, dab a metallic eyeshadow on top of the areas where you applied metallic gloss.
4. HD Gloss Lips
With all that ’90s nostalgia, looks like gloss is back in a big way and not just for your lids! Glossy lip looks are giving us throwback feels with an HD twist.
Try a new age, ultra HD gloss on top of a bold lip colour to turn it up this party season!
5. Highlighted Lips
Did you know you could highlight your lips? Yup, totally a thing! Make your lips standout with a little lip highlight at the next party or function you’re attending.
Post lipstick application, use a brush or you’re pinky finger to apply highlight along your cupid’s bow and the centre of your lower lip. You can even add a dab along the M of your top lips.
