Elle Celebrates Graduates 2015 With An intimate Gathering
Elle India — which turned 20 this year — is one of the country’s oldest and most-loved international fashion magazines, and not without reason. The magazine has always been on the forefront when it comes to championing Indian fashion, and with a change of guard in the form of its young editor Aishwarya Subramanyam, it’s been given a whole new look and voice that we’ve been loving. It’s one of the few magazines we devour from cover to cover each month. And the covers? More, please!
For the past few years, Elle India has been scoping out the next big thing in Indian fashion before they hit the big time, and this year was no different. Designers like Dhruv Kapoor, Anavila Mishra, Rashmi Varma, Rina Singh, and Sahil Kochhar were the five young finalists vying for the Elle Graduates crown, and each of their showcases was filled with stunning pieces that are perfect for the modern Indian woman. To celebrate the work of these designers, Elle hosted an intimate evening of their latest work at Vivanta by Taj in Mumbai, that was judged by veteran designers Tarun Tahiliani and Anita Dongre, Ogaan’s Aashti Bhartia and Elle’s Aishwarya Subramanyam. While Kocchar won the chance to create an exclusive line for high street giant Max Fashion, Rina Singh of Eka won an all-expense paid showcase at the international trade event Who’sNext Paris.
The who’s who of fashion were present to show their support, including Masaba Gupta Mantena, Nikhil Thampi, Maithili Ahluwalia, Sabina Chopra, Nimish Shah, Payal Khandwala, Nitya Arora and more, while celebrities like Kriti Sanon, Bhooma Pednekar, Sayani Gupta and Ira Dubey also made an appearance. A special mention to Elle’s Fashion Editor Nidhi Jacob for putting together such a great show!
