From stylish international celebrities to Bollywood’s very own style stars, Self-Portrait was THE label on everyone’s minds towards the latter half of the past year. And this accessible luxury label is bound to get bigger and better in 2016.
A contemporary, ready-to-wear brand created by this Central Saint Martins College alumnus, Self-Portrait perfectly blends high-street influences with luxurious touches, adding the right amount of quirk to its feminine dresses. The USP of this label is its use of intricate mesh and lace on a neutral colour palette. A lot of attention is given to the fabric, be it guipure lace, mesh, or faux leather, and I particularly like the sheer overlays which add a sexy vibe to the otherwise girly garments. This label is sure to become a modern classic for every fashion girl’s wardrobe.
Among the first to be spotted in Self-Portrait in India was billionaire/socialite Michelle Poonawalla in the already cult Azealea dress, followed quickly by Shahid Kapur’s new bride and fashionista-in-the-making Mira Rajput, Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and model Waluscha DeSouza.
