These “Shero” Barbies Are Inspiring Little Girls To Be Anything They Want To Be!

By  |

After last year’s hipster Ken in a man bun, the latest collection of “Shero” (a mashup of “she” and “hero”) Barbies, launched in honour of International Women’s Day, might just be the coolest dolls we’ve ever seen! These Barbies have been crafted after a versatile group of accomplished women from all around the world.

An artist, a physicist a plus-size model, an athlete… the women all come from different professions and have certainly made their mark! The purpose? To show little girls that they can be anything!

“Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie, and we are thrilled to shine a light on real life role models to remind them that they can be anything,” said Lisa McKnight, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Barbie.

The women who have been honoured with their very own Barbie incarnation include Chloe Kim (Olympic Gold Medalist), Patty Jenkins (Film Director), Bindi Irwin (Conservationist), Nicola Adams (Boxing champion), Çağla Kubat (Windsurfer), Hélène Darroze (World famous chef), Hui Ruoqi (Volleyball champion), Leyla Piedayesh (Designer and Entrepreneur), Lorena Ochoa (Professional Golfer), Martyna Wojciechowska (Journalist), Sara Gama (Soccer Player), Xiaotong Guan (Actress and Philanthropist), Yuan Yuan Tan, (Prima Ballerina), Vicky Martin Berrocal (Entrepreneur and Fashion designer).

All these amazing women have been recognised for their hard work and cultural significance. They’ve broken boundaries, and are now inspiring little girls everywhere to be whoever they want to be! Who are we kidding? It’s not just the little girls. Us too! In fact, if you ask me, I’d like one of each!
