5 Reasons We Want Nokia 3310 To Rule Our Lives Again

Our Androids and iPhones are kickass phone alright, but they lack some really important features that our simple, old-school Nokia had. And it hurts because we put our liver on stake to buy these latest gadgets that then decide to turn on us when we least expect them to. Whereas Nokia followed us around everywhere, unfailingly, like that cute pup from the Hutch (now Vodafone) ad.

OK, so let’s come straight to the point. There’s news that Nokia 3310 is being re-launched after 17 years (having first been launched in 2000) at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, end of February. Although it’ll be initially available only to European and North American consumers at €59 (about Rs 4,000), we’re hoping this old friend reaches our shores soon as well.

We list 5 reasons why we need our boyo back in our lives:

1. It’s Sturdy AF!

Falling on the floor and emerging unscathed is no major feat for the stud called Nokia 3310. We’re tired of getting our screens cracked at the drop of a hat and the fortune we gotta shell out every time we send our phones to repair.

2. Indestructible Battery Life

We wonder what to do to not have our fancy iPhone drain its juice at the most inconvenient of times. So much maintenance! But with a Nokia, charge it once in 2 to 3 days, and you’re good to go!

3. No Frills Needed

We didn’t have to worry about fancy covers or good-quality screen-guards for our boy. No extra expenditure on an already reasonable phone.

4. Less Distraction

It did what phones are supposed to do. Make calls and send messages. We did find that boring sometimes, but now when we look back, we definitely used to be less distracted and far, far more efficient.

5. Snake

Our favourite of the favourites. How brilliantly did it kill time? Just no words!

We’re hoping that the revamped version gives us the option of WhatsApp and a decent camera, and we’d run back to our old lover without a second thought.
