Remember This Epic Razr? It Might Just Be Making A Comeback!

If you were a kid growing up in the early 2000s, you’ll remember the head-turning Moto Razr well. That epic phone from Motorola was the height of fashion back then (even David Beckham endorsed it), becoming the world’s best-selling flip phone and going down in history as one of the 10 most popular phones of all time. And then there was that snap closure — it could shut down an icy conversation with your boyfriend like nothing else could.

Well, it seems like we might just have the Razr back in our lives come June!

Motorola recently teased a video (see below) hinting as much, showing a group of students in an American high school fooling around with their Razr V3s. Then there’s also the mysterious caption, “Flip back to the Razr days of yesteryear and get ready for the future.”

Naturally, the interwebs has gone crazy speculating about the new phone, with the general consensus being that an Android version of the insanely thin gadget is in the offing. Which may not be a bad thing, if you really think about it.

Analysts have been predicting the rebirth of flip phones for a while now thanks to a growing backlash against smartphones. Brands like Samsung have already jumped in on the action and flip phones are once again a massive hit in Japan. What’s more, some of our more famous style icons can’t seem to get enough of them either.

Adele famously sported one in the music video for her smash hit Hello a few months ago, while American Vogue editrix Anna Wintour never quite got over her love for the flip top and still carries it. Rihanna too has been recently photographed with one.

So is the ‘flip and snap’ making a comeback? The big news will be unveiled at Lenovo Tech World on June 9, so we’ll just have to wait till then to be REALLY excited.

After all, there’s no better feeling in the world than firmly snapping your phone shut on an annoying caller.
