The App That Will Help You Adult Like A Boss!

Tired of using the same ol’, boring apps? Keep up with the hottest new app launches and rediscover old favourites with Appturday! Appturday’s a weekly post from our Social Media Editor where she rants, raves, and shares the apps she’s currently into.

Whether it’s a quick road trip with a little help from Easy Roads or that elusive international holiday that makes you feel like a jet-setter, a holiday with your #GirlSquad is almost always the cure to what ails you. Like everything in life, it’s all well and good till the bill comes along and one friend realises that she’s paid more than her fair share, wayyy too many times. If you’re anything like me, you’ll just internalise the awkwardness and hope that someday your friends will return the favour, and almost always, forget about it.

But if you’re in the mood for some serious adult-ing, why not check Splitwise? It’s my #Appturday pick that’ll help you and your friends split all your bills, fair and square! Splitwise is a nifty little app that helps you stay on top of shared finances with a simple-to-use UI that gives you a snapshot of all dues in less than a minute. With a few swipes, you can create custom groups, which comes in use when you’re traveling with your friends, or even ordering that daily 5 pm sev puri at work. What’s especially useful is the fact that Splitwise keeps a running total over time, which is a blessing for the numerically challenged. The option to maintain a specific account with a singular person is a blessing for working girls who live with roommates and need to split myriad monthly bills. Your friends can choose to pay you via Paypal too, so once they’ve settled, you’re both happy, financially responsible adults! On a very personal note, I’m not a fan of the email reminder feature — it feels a bit passive aggressive, but I can see its utility.

Available on Android and iOS!
