Reviewed: Eighteen Plus Duets By Apurv Nagpal + 18 Women
When was the last time you read a book that seamlessly brought together the ideas, thoughts, and creativity of multiple people, and set fire to your imagination? Well, for me, this was a first. Eighteen Plus Duets brought together two of my favourite genres of fiction — erotica and short stories. 18 lively, liberated, articulate women wrote 18 funny, sexy short stories, co-authored by published author, IIM grad, and ex-corporate head honcho, Apurv Nagpal.
In each story, the woman (or women) is the protagonist, exploring her sexuality while juggling relationships and real life. What stood out most in these stories was the complete lack of judgement and morality — there is no right or wrong when it comes to the matters of the mind, body, and soul. Each story promises to resonate with many women — cheating partners, increased sex drives, secret glances turned into steamy sessions in college, lusty nights turned into true love.
In Shay Seher’s The Royal Honeymoon, Mohini is far more sexually liberated than her fiance, the slightly prudish Yuvraaj; Sukanya Dutta Roy’s The Breakfast sees 2 infidel couples raising a toast to each other; Reena and Meera teach Rajiv a lesson in Soulmates; a 40+ woman rediscovers her sultry sensuality and goes on to break every rule in the book in Living Life In Reverse; every story is refreshing, surprising, edgy, and super fun.
If you’re looking for a light, saucy read, I suggest you pick this one up. You’ll get through it in a breeze, and you may even learn a thing or two *wink*.
