Pilot Tammie Jo Shults Hailed A Hero For Saving 150 Lives!

If you enjoy a fabulous, belly-shaking guffaw every time you hear a joke about bad women drivers, this should shut you up nice and good. Captain Tammie Jo Shults, the pilot of the Southwest aircraft that landed with just one engine after a jet engine ripped apart mid-air, is being lauded for being calm and saving the lives of the many people on board.

Tammie was the pilot on Flight 1380. The aircraft blew an engine mid-air, and she was required to land the flight with just one functioning engine. Transcripts of her conversation with the air traffic controllers reveal her informing them of the situation, and arranging for a medical team to meet the aircraft upon landing.

Tammie has being hailed as a hero by passengers for handling the situation in this fashion. She didn’t panic, and even spoke to the passengers, asking them to not worry.

Shults’ brother-in-law, Gary Shults, said her husband also is a Southwest pilot, and told him she made the emergency landing. “She’s a formidable woman, as sharp as a tack,” said Gary Shults to AP. “My brother says she’s the best pilot he knows.”
