Morgan Freeman Accused Of Sexual Harassment, 8 Women Speak Up

Morgan Freeman is 80 years old. So it would be safe to say he’s seen the world change, seen it evolve, seen women take charge in areas that were previously male bastions. And with so many years of experience, he also knows what definitely counts as sexual harassment. Or so you would think.

No less than 8 women have come out against Morgan claiming he has been verbally or physically inappropriate with them. In a CNN story that exposed this side of the actor, the reporter talks about an incident on set where a young production assistant said that Freeman “kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear.” He never successfully lifted her skirt, she said — he would touch it and try to lift it, she would move away, and then he’d try again. Eventually, she said, “Alan [Arkin] made a comment telling him to stop. Morgan got freaked out and didn’t know what to say.”

And that’s just one woman. Several other women have also called out the actor for being inappropriate. And not just on set. At press conferences and even at his own company, Revelations Entertainment. In fact, the article states that women around Morgan would often change their dressing style to be more modest to avoid catching his eye.

The actor has come out with a statement, saying “Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologise to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.”

We applaud these women for speaking against a stalwart in this industry. It can’t be easy.
