Now Enjoy The Flavours Of New York In Bandra
One more restaurant just got added to the many cool places that Bandra already houses. It Happened In New York is surely going to fulfill all your fancy dining dreams. Launched by foodies Manashwi and Aastha Gupta, it is a beautiful 2,700 sq ft space, sprawled 3 floors, dressed in hues of blues and yellow. During winter, this will be a nice, warm change to look forward to. A well-equipped bar and floor-to-ceiling windows, make sure that the interiors are on point.
The restaurant’s menu has been curated by Executive Chef Sanyo Vaz, along with Kartikeya Ratan (Keya), a chef who was part of the team at New York’s 3-Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park. It is divided into 5 broad sections, making it easier for you to order what you like (or not). The first is the Bar Nibbles portion that has dishes that will complement you drinks perfectly. Caramelised Spiced Nuts (served in 4 different flavours); Chorizo, Charred Chorizo and American Cheddar served in a can; and Gravlax, house-cured salmon gravlax with dill mustard dressing are just some of the names in this section.
Next come the Short Eats and, as the name suggests, it is all about starters. Four different types of Tacos include Pulled Cumin Jackfruit, Stuffed Jalapeno, Chicken Tenders, and Baja Fish served in house-made, soft tortillas made of corn, black rice, and millet flours, and accompanied by guacamole and pico de gallo, are one of the specialities. Other dishes include Chicken Spwings, spicy chicken wings inspired by Mission Chinese, a favoured Sichuan eatery on New York’s Lower East Side; Corn Dogs, corn batter-coated hot dogs fried to a crispy golden brown, served with a spicy barbecue sauce and mustard mayo; and Cheese and Charcuterie platters.
The third section is for all you health freaks out there. These dishes promise to be tasty yet nutritious. What else do you need? I mean, where else would we want to eat a bowl full of grains? The Grain Story is an all-grain bowl served with curried cauliflower couscous, charred fennel salad, seared Brussels sprouts, roasted kale chips, and pesto bocconchini.
Fourth in line is the Large Bites section, the main course. If you still have an appetite after gorging on all the previous sections, then help yourself with dishes like Mushroom Casserole, made of morels, porcini, portobello, and fresh oyster mushrooms, finished with truffle pate and a pie crust; and Bahn Mi, offered in 4 varieties: Miso Eggplant & Tofu; Sesame-Crusted Chicken Tenders; Beef Bulgogi; and Spicy Pulled Pork. Don’t worry, they haven’t forgotten the non-meat eaters. A special vegetarian grill section has items created of local ingredients, cooked to perfection.
Lastly, and you guessed it right, is the Sweet Treats. Desserts here include a classic New York Cheesecake; Milk & Honey, textures of milk and honey with chamomile, inspired by Eleven Madison Park; Key Lime Pie; S’mores, and Black Rice Pudding, with dark, medium, and milk chocolate.
The Bar menu is further divided into 8 sections, so rest assured, your drinks will be as great as the food. After all, they are presented to you by mixologist Nitin Tewari and inspired by Jerry Thomas, who is known to be the father of American mixology .
