#HauteSpaces: Yogesh Chaudhary’s Flagship Store Is All Class And Quirk
Who doesn’t love a pretty home/work space? I know the answer to that one. So now, every week, I will go in search for the most stunning indoor spaces in our country that will inspire the inner decorator in you. Unique, colourful, or quirky, these photo stories are sure to leave you spellbound, like mouth-hanging-open spellbound. If you know or use a space that fits the description, ping me and we can chat! It can be anything from a home to an office, a studio to a restaurant — if it is fun, I’m game!
The dynamic designer, Yogesh Chaudhary, started his label Surendri in 2012 and since then, has only set benchmarks for fashionistas around the globe. Till now, we have seen his work on the ramp and obviously, on Hauterfly, but from now on, we can see his beautiful creations at his flagship store in Gurgaon, as well. And that’s what we are going to talk about today — his store that is showing the world how to do monochrome right!
Every inch of the lovely space exudes Yogesh’s innate creativity and is in sync with the crazy ideas that develop in Yogesh’s head. The designer, being a small village boy from Haryana, decided to reconnect with his childhood, by adding elements like the bullock furniture, plants, faux grass on the floor, bamboo seatings, and so on. At the same time, he seamlessly amalgamated traditional and contemporary features, putting together a space that is nothing short of inspiring. The use of black and white for the décor really help the vibrant designs stand out.
The unique parts of the store, though, are the upside-down mannequins hanging from the ceiling. It reminds you of the store’s very existence and the whole essence that it comes with it. The word ‘Surendri’ are engraved in Hindi, subtly telling us that the feel is modern and yet intrinsically Indian. One side of the store is aesthetically done up in plants on the walls, adding a great deal of warmth to the space. A big, big Hauterfly thumbs up to the whole idea and execution of Yogesh’s first flagship store.
If you cannot go to Gurgaon to see this beauty in person, worry not — here’s a sneak peek into the Surendri store.
