Rohit Bal’s Collection For Good Earth Is Royalty Redefined
After Sabya launched his décor collection with Pottery Barn last month, we knew that he had started a trend. News soon came in that couturier Rohit Bal is coming up with a new line of apparel and décor for Good Earth. And now that the collection is out, we cannot stop gushing over it! It means that apart from just wearing his designs, we get to eat and drink in them too.
The ace fashion designer, who has given us enough reasons to fall in love with his creations, is back with a new angle. For a long time he had contemplated whether or not to start his own décor line or do it in collaboration, and he finally decided on the latter. Good Earth, the premium décor store, has always been a brand to produce intricate, detailed products — be it their dinner sets or shirts. Keeping true to that reputation, Bal has created a collection named Husn-e-Taairaat, that defines Good Earth. It means ‘beauty of a bird’, and the collection has done justice to the delicate Persian name.
Royal blues, greens, and jade have been perfectly injected in over 30 items. Rohit took inspiration from Pichwai paintings that were made in Rajasthan. The paintings depicted scenes out of Lord Krishna’s life and are kept as backgrounds in many temples. Using that reference, the designs are crafted with peacock detailing and floral prints that are so specific that it takes a minute for you to take in its gorgeousness. To enhance the beauty, each product is lined with either gold or platinum lining, exuding luxury. Apart from the tea sets, glasses, candles, plates and many more décor items, he has also added a few things in the apparel section. Playing with silk and large floral motifs, the clothing line is every bit traditional, with a hint of contemporary.
