#HauteSpaces: Revisiting Irrfan Khan’s Stunning Home

Who doesn’t love a pretty home/work space? I know the answer to that one. So now, every week, I will go in search for the most stunning indoor spaces in our country that will inspire the inner decorator in you. Unique, colourful, or quirky, these photo stories are sure to leave you spellbound, like mouth-hanging-open spellbound. If you know or use a space that fits the description, ping me and we can chat! It can be anything from a home to an office, a studio to a restaurant — if it is fun, I’m game.

Celebrity homes are almost always worthy of envy. They have the money and they can use it to beautify their space. And following suit is one of the finest actors of Bollywood, Irrfan Khan. Leaving his quaint home in Madh island, he shifted into a high rise in Andheri, about 2 months ago. Why are we talking about it now? Because we cannot get over the fact that it is an absolute treat to the eyes and senses. You know those spaces that instantly calm you down? His home is one of those.

Designed by the Peacock Life founder Shabnam Gupta, just skimming through the photos exude some seriously royal vibes. Shades of white with a dash of turquoise and pinks make for a lovely sight. Almost all the furniture is from the Peacock Life and the rest have been sourced from various artisans in Jodhpur, giving the space an ethnic aura. Staying true to their traditional self, Irrfan and his wife Sutapa have hand-crafted cushions, lamps and pots lying around, and a swing in the living room. Irrfan is obsessed with mirrors, which is proven by the dining area that is teeming with them. The blue walls are adorned with dim lighting, making the features subtle and romantic. Yes, it is possible to fall in love with the interiors.

Oh, did we tell you that he has a pond built into the living room with lilies and lotuses? Irrfan says that he wants his family to feel a sense of calm when they enter the space. And what better than a water body to do that, right? The dining area has a long antique-y table surrounded by blue and yellow chairs. In fact, the entire house feels pleasant and the colours chosen instill a sense of happiness.
