Simi’s Statement Neckpiece is Perfect For Edgy Girls
When I chalk out my monthly shopping plan, jewellery always ends up on the top of the list. A minimalist, delicate yet chic piece is one that usually catches my fancy. But even though I’m always on the lookout for accessories that define my love for minimalism, once in a while, I make it a point to add to my collection a statement neckpiece. Seriously, I think if there’s anything that an edgy girl really needs to add to her bauble box, it’s got to be a neckpiece that stands out. You cannot deny that a statement piece that’s trendy is enough for clothing that might be pretty plain-jane, to say the least.
Last week, during one of my many ‘scouting sessions for anything trendy online’, I came across this WOW neckpiece by jewellery designer Malvika Vaswani. As the name suggests — Gold plated Cordoba Pequeno Bidri necklace — this piece is a perfect blend of culture. For those of you who aren’t aware, Cordona in Spain is known for its distinct style of jewellery making. And bidri, is a popular South Indian artform from Bidar, Karnataka, that has major Turkish influence. While the craft of bidriwork is usually used for handicrafts, here the designer puts in ample thought to work it on this bauble. I like how Malvika uses both Indian and Spanish influences to create this highly-edgy neckpiece. Set entirely in brass metal, the entire focus is on the pendant. While it does have a slightly futuristic look to it, you can work it with flowy palazzos and a kurta for a perfect ethnic look. I think it’s such a great piece to own. In fact if you’re one among the edgy girls, here’s a must-have accessory.
