Alisha Is Ready To Take On The World After Getting Her Hands On This Book

By  |

Some may call it right-place-right-time and others may call it luck, but I personally think it takes pure gumption and drive to pursue a dream and not stop till you achieve it. And if you can do what you need to, while still maintaining a sense of humour and the ability to laugh at yourself, then all the better.

I really look up to women who go for gold, unabashedly while still not taking themselves too seriously. And this is tougher than it looks, what with all the glass ceilings we have to shatter. This is why Tina Fey is one of my all-time favourite people, and her book Bossypants got me through some interesting periods in my life.

I love reading about people and their life stories because, as stupid as they can sometimes be, everyone has a story and all of them are interesting in their own way. You can always learn something from someone else’s story, and if it’s written in a context of giving you advice, then even better, right?

How To Be A Bawse: A Guide To Conquering Life by Lilly Singh

Like this relatively new release from Superwoman Lilly Singh. You may know her as a comedienne and vlogger, or as the 3rd highest-paid YouTube star, as per Forbes in 2016. But in case you haven’t already heard, she’s also now an author.

She’s written a definitive guide to being a BAWSE — a a confident person who knows what they want and gets there, and stumbles but gets up, and is, above all, genuine. The idea is that you gain strength from going through what you go through and come out a winner on the other side.

As is her style, the book is hilarious, bold, and honest. She shows that there are no shortcuts to success. In Lilly’s world, there are no escalators. Only stairs.
